Robert B. Alesi '78

President
Robert B. Alesi, who was appointed the second President of Xaverian High School in the fall of 2009, is an alumnus of Xaverian’s Class of 1978 and has been serving over 40+ years as an administrator and teacher.

Bob, a veteran teacher in Xaverian’s Mathematics, Business, and Computer Science departments, was appointed Principal in 2007 and served in that role for two years until he was appointed President. Bob has served the school as Principal of the Summer School, Department Chairperson, Guidance Counselor, and Dean of Students. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Bob coached basketball for 21 years in the competitive Brooklyn-Queens Catholic High School Athletic Association.

Bob’s tenure as President of Xaverian has seen many successes, including the increasing of overall academic standards for incoming students, the successful implementation of a fully 1:1 computing environment wherein each student is equipped with an iPad, and the launching of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program implemented through a partnership with Project Lead the Way.

As an educator within the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools network of 13 schools in the United States, Bob was the recipient of the Theodore James Ryken Educator of the Year Award in 2004, as well as a recipient of the St. Francis Xavier Award for service to the community, also in 2004. In 2011, Bob was presented a Doctor of Humane Letters honoris causa by St. Francis College.

Bob served on the Board of Directors of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland, and at Saint Xavier High School in Louisville, KY, and is a member of the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn.

Bob received an M.B.A. from the Lubin Graduate School of Business at Pace University in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Wagner College in 1981.

Bob was born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School. He resides in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish on Staten Island with his wife, Jeanne, a retired art teacher.
